Privacy Policy

Standu is a phone call accessibility app. Making and receiving calls involves audio and text data by nature. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.

We keep this policy short on purpose. If something is unclear, email us at privacy@standu.net.

What we collect

Call audio: When a call is in progress, audio from the other person is sent to a speech-to-text service to generate captions. We do not record or store the audio itself. It is processed in real time and discarded immediately after transcription.

Transcripts: The text of captions generated during a call. By default, transcripts are stored locally on your device and are not sent to our servers. If you enable transcript history in settings, we store them on your behalf so you can access them across devices. You can delete them at any time.

Typed replies: What you type during a call is converted to speech and sent to the other party. We do not log or store your typed replies unless transcript history is enabled.

Phone numbers: Numbers you dial are used to place calls. We do not store call history on our servers by default. Call history is saved locally on your device.

Account information: If you create an account, we store your email address and a hashed password. No account is required for basic calls.

Device and technical data: Standard app diagnostics: device type, operating system version, app version, crash logs. No advertising identifiers. No precise location.

What we do not collect

  • We do not record or retain call audio.
  • We do not sell your data to anyone.
  • We do not use your data to serve ads.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Third-party services

Standu uses the following third-party services to function:

  • Speech-to-text: Real-time audio transcription. Audio is streamed to this service during active calls only and is not retained by the provider after transcription.
  • Telephony (Twilio): Call routing and PSTN connectivity. Twilio may log call metadata such as duration and phone numbers for billing and fraud prevention. See Twilio's privacy policy.

We do not use any advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.

Data retention

Account data is kept until you delete your account. Local call history and transcripts are kept on your device until you delete them. If you enable cloud transcript storage, transcripts are kept until you delete them or close your account.

Crash logs are deleted after 90 days.

Your rights

You can request a copy of any data we hold about you, ask us to delete it, or ask us to correct inaccurate data. Email privacy@standu.net and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under GDPR. If you are in California, you have rights under CCPA. We honor both regardless of where you live.

Children

Standu is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify users who have accounts by email. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
